Tutorial of DropShots 2.0 new features

First be sure to download the New DropBox. There are several new features to it including the settings that allow you to upload much larger and higher quality photos and videos.

Navigation

You can navigate your entire experience of DropShots on the left navigation.

By Date – This is one of the fantastic features of DropShots. DropShots automatically identifies the date and time you originally took the photo or video and automatically arranges them accordingly. On this tab you can drill down to find any photo or video in your entire library by date taken.

When you click on the tab it opens up to show you all the years you have uploaded files. Click on the "+" sign and it will open up all the months as well.

Albums – You can now organize your photos and videos on DropShots into albums! Just click on the Albums tab, then click on "Create a New Album" and give it a name:

Now just drag-n-drop the photo and/or video thumbnails into the album you just created. You can select multiple thumbnails at a time by using the Cntrl or Shft keys:

Trash - You can delete albums, friends and photos and videos by just dragging-n-dropping into the trash. You can select multiple thumbnails at at time by using the Ctrl or Shft button.

Search - coming soon! You will be able to search by tag (any word from a title, caption or comment) and rating for either photos, videos or both.

Infinite Scroll - On every section of the new DropShots site you can scroll infinitely without ever needing to refresh or click to another page.

On the User Home page:

And the thumbnails on the Large View can be scrolled infinitely:

To Post your photo or video to a blog:

Password protection is just another layer of security if you feel you want it.

1) Click on the "Settings" link at the top of any Dropshots page.
2) Click on the "User Settings" tab at the left.
4) Where it says "Password Protection" enter your own personal password.

So far, my only complaint, observation, is that my friends list did not carry over in the change and that is a huge inconvenience!

  2. eugene Says:

how do you write comments on your own pictures?

  3. eugene Says:

also, when i edit the time on some of my pictures, they no longer work. they just become boxes with ‘x’s in the them. and my friends list is gone.

  4. ReimerRumble2 Says:

How do you get captions onto the pictures under DropShots 2.0.

  5. Nate Says:

The upgrades are a welcome improvement. However I cannot get new video uploads to play. Upload is successful, then it fully downloads the stream but there is no play option.

    ??? WHAT GIVES ???

  6. Kara Says:

How do I delete comments? If someone puts something inappropriate or accidentally hits submit for a blank comment, etc. I would like to be able to delete it. Or if I put something on my site or someone else’s and decide I don’t like it how would I delete it?

I’ve been with dropshots for over 2 years and LOVE it, but I’m not so sure on this yet. Will the captioning come back? Or do I need to leave a comment on my own photo? So far it’s just as slow, if not slower. :( All my old videos look so grainy all blown up (even though they’re super high res and show up crystal clear on my personal PC).

  8. Jennie Says:

HELP! How do we add captions to photos? How do we “post thumbnails of all photos and videos from this day” to our blog, as we used to? (the best feature we had, in my opinion.) And why isn’t a link back to DropShots embedded with the HTML code anymore? HELP! I love DropShots and convinced all my friends to join… and now I’m afraid they’ll start pelting my house with rotten tomatoes.

  9. Jennie Says:

I know a solution: How about a feature to let us post thumbnails of all the photos in one of our new albums? Would that work? Thumbnails were vital to my blogging operation.

  10. Becca Says:

Overall I love the way the new drop shots looks. However, I find it’s taking lots longer to upload videos and I can’t figure out how to do the titles and captions either. I also miss how you used to be able to view on the calendar format. I’m sure there are some bugs to work out but hopefully it gets better. I love dropshots and have been telling all of my friends about it.

  11. Carole Says:

I love the albums, but I want my calendar-view back! Also, I want the links I’ve put in my blog to work — and they don’t anymore! (I haven’t watched my old videos yet, but if it’s true that they’re grainy and pixelated now, I’m going to be unhappy about that; what’s the point of an upgrade if it ruins what we already have?)

I’ve been telling everybody about DropShots, and I’ll continue to do so — but it will no longer be complimentary, unless these problems are fixed…. : (

We love the infinite scroll function….but we certainly miss our titles, captions, and calender view…..please add those back and be as visible as possible, just like before? I don’t want to add my thoughts and words under comments…..also, please enable back the delete comment function soon…..thanks.

I have FINALLY been able to get a video to upload (at least that’s the message I get when it is supposedly complete). However, when I try to play the video nothing happens and the thumbnail has a red “X” in it & NO VIDEO.
Didn’t you at least do a BASIC TEST before you subjected us to these “wonderful new enhancements”?

  14. Janina Says:

    to add caption:

put cursor below date and time till cursor reads “click to edit caption”
    click and type caption
