Message from the Founder of DropShots

July 30th, 2007

Hello everyone, welcome to the brand new DropShots! We have been working hard all year rebuilding DropShots from the ground up to be fastest and most valuable place to share your personal photos and video.

I started working on DropShots about 5 years ago as a university research project to make sharing photos online more effortless and rewarding. Today many things have changed: I’ve long since graduated, DropShots turned into a company, I got married, and just a few days ago my baby boy, Lucas, was born.

Along with the birth of my baby boy is the birth of the new DropShots. With the new DropShots I can now drag and drop thumbnails to create albums for “Lucas’ birthday” or “Lucas playing”. 4x larger video allows me to capture more detail of Lucas’ many facial expressions.   As a busy father, the new speed of DropShots allows me to quickly view and share photos. The new thumbnail view lets me see entire screen full of thumbnails of Lucas.  But this is just the birth with a whole new platform to grow on. We will be building on this new platform with many new features and functions that I think will continue to transform the way families can share personal memories and life experiences.

We have all worked hard, and are happy to release the new DropShots. I hope you find all the new features as valuable as I do. Thank you very much for using DropShots to share your most valuable memories, it means a lot of all of us here.

Your baby boy is a doll.
I really love DropShots, and convinced all my friends to use it. Can we bring back a few essential things please….? I can’t see how to write captions for new photos under 2.0. I can’t see the “post thumbnails of all photos and videos from this day” feature anywhere. That was VITAL to my blog. And the HTML codes don’t include the embedded link for the photo back to DropShots. Why, oh why?!?! Can you help!?

  6. Jennie Says:

And can we still write a title for a day’s photos?

  7. Debbie McKnight Says:

My only concern is when you enlarge a picture you can not see the whole picture at the same time as the caption on that picture. I can’t seem to enlarge the whole screen to see them at the same time.

But congratulations on the new baby. He is adorable with his little hiccups.

Congrats on your baby… I love the new layout – MUCH better than the previous version. I reaaaaalllly like it a lot! However, I can’t see any of my photos or videos unless I put beta.dropshots.com/myuserid instead of just dropshots.com/myuserid. Also, can we pleaaaase have the functionality to embed the entire days’ photos, as well as the 6 latest photos? I use both, and don’t see either on the new site.

Can you please tell me why I can’t see my stuff without the beta in front of the address?? There is a promt to ‘get started’ when I go to my normal link… Thanks 🙂

Congratulations on the birth of your son! We’ve been using DropShots to share our son’s first six months with his family in Europe and far from us… and we’re loving it. We look forward to seeing what new functionality will come with this upgrade.

Congratulations, Ryan!! What an adorable boy! Our middle son is a Luke! Love your awesome site- we just moved to Costa Rica as missionaries and this is such a blessing for the grandparents and family we left behind in the U.S. Thank you soo much!!

That is the cutest video and the cutest baby! And that precious little smile!
I want you to know, since my twin grandsons were born in December, my family has been on dropshots NONSTOP. We are spread out from Massachussetts to Louisiana and this is the greatest way to keep in touch….. however, I have to say I do not like the changes you have made. I know you are trying to improve, and I don’t want to hurt your feelings, but I think the layout is so much more confusing and harder to use now. Please please please please please go back to the way it was!!! Out of all my friends and family users, I have not heard one person comment positively about the changes. Glitches are to be expected, that’s no big deal, it’s just that our usage has slowed way down and I’m afraid it’s because of the new, confusing format.
I hope I haven’t hurt your feelings. Remember when they tried to change Coke to make it better… and then went back to the original? Well…..
    Thanks for your time…

    OH my Gosh,
    What a sweetie…

Will you kiss those baby feet for me… As they need to be blessed and kissed for all the miles he will walk on those feet in his life.

    Thanks for dropshots too!

Hello Sir! Congrats on a beautiful baby boy! 🙂 Its definitely an exciting time-Thats why my husband and I ended up paying for the service because we had so many pics/videos to share! I think most of the changes are cool… There’s a few things that are really annoying like trying to figure out how to title a photo or put a caption under the photo so my family knows ‘whats behind the picture’- it kind of helps to tell the story. Also, my husbands deployed right now for the second time in a little over a year and we were hoping that you guys would leave the feature of being able to upload videos directly to the site not just through the dropbox… Now he cannot send us videos and it’s really frustrating… It made me feel like I could “see” my husband. Since he has to use military computers/gov’t computers he cannot download the dropbox. 🙁 For this I like the old dropshots. 🙁 Again sir congrats on the birth of your son! Thanks for your time.

Congrats on your new baby boy! He is just adorable!!! Babies are so much fun and it’s amazing how they change our lives. Thanks for the rebuilt Dropshots site so we can continue to share our precious memories with our family and friends. Dropshots has also helped me to save some pictures I would have otherwise lost on my computer. I always upload the important pictures, and recently everything was mistakenly erased from my computer. I was able to save them back from the dropshots site. What a life saver! If I had to make one suggestion. It would be nice to be able to save multiple pictures in groups at the same time from off the site.

Thanks for the awesome site! Congrats to you and your family also!
